WORCESTER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT AWARDED BOTH AMBULATORY AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE ACCREDITATION FROM THE JOINT COMMISSION

Snow Hill, Md. (September 25, 2013) – Worcester County Health Department has earned prestigious Joint Commission accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in both ambulatory and behavioral health care. Achieving accreditation from the Joint Commission is a team effort that brings confidence to patients and provides a framework for the best care possible.

The accreditation award, which accredits organizations in 3-year cycles, recognizes Worcester County Health Department’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.  The standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.

Homeless Outreach Team provides resources and services to area homeless

Ocean City, MD- Launched earlier this year, the Worcester County Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) provides support services to homeless individuals within the county. Stemming from Worcester County’s Homeless Committee, through the Local Management Board, the HOT team is a partnership between the Worcester County Health Department, Local Behavioral Health Authority, Department of Social Services, Ocean City Police Department, Diakonia, Ocean City Crisis Coalition, and Atlantic General Hospital. Launched earlier this year, the Worcester County Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) provides support services to homeless individuals within the county. Stemming from Worcester County’s Homeless Committee, through the Local Management Board, the HOT team is a partnership between the Worcester County Health Department, Local Behavioral Health Authority, Department of Social Services, Ocean City Police Department, Diakonia, Ocean City Crisis Coalition, and Atlantic General Hospital.
