Snow Hill, Md. (February 26, 2014) – The Worcester County Health Department and the Worcester County Drug and Alcohol Council are hosting an Alcohol Licensee Recognition Breakfast on Friday, February 28th. This event is held to show appreciation to 103 alcohol retailers in Worcester County for complying with the law by refusing to sell alcohol to an underage cadet. These retailers will be recognized for protecting the health and safety of residents and visitors in the community by preventing underage access to alcohol.
Beau Oglesby, State’s Attorney for Worcester County will be the featured speaker. Marty Pusey, Director of Prevention Services at Worcester County Health Department stated, “We appreciate the partnership between law enforcement and the business owners to help prevent youth access to alcohol.”
Successful compliance is accomplished through employers assuring their servers of alcohol are appropriately trained and point of purchase skills must be continually emphasized and reinforced by managers.
This is the 13th year for this recognition breakfast. The Ocean City Police Department and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office work together to enforce underage drinking laws. Worcester County’s alcohol compliance rate for 2013 was 82%.
