The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

 

Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.

We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

Fiscal Accounts Clerk I, Full-time Contractual

The main purpose of this full time contractual position will be to assure accurate, timely, and complete client data collection while following all clerical policies and procedures. This position requires a high level of confidentiality and is responsible for maintaining positive interactions with patients and families on the phone, in person and through other means of communication before, during and after the client visit. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Coordinator Special Programs Health Services I - Full-time, Contractual

The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) assists children, adolescents and adults (who have a qualifying mental illness) within our local community. Rehabilitation coordinators link individuals to federal, state, and local resources to reduce the need for a higher level of care. This position will include but is not limited to assessment, individualized goal planning, referral, linkage and most commonly, skill building within the home and community. Services are provided individually and in group settings. A high level of coordination and communication is expected within the Behavioral Health Unit which consists of a mental health therapist at minimum. Team meetings often include the treating psychiatrist, therapist, supervisor(s) and primary care services. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Licensed Practical Nurse I, Full-time Contractual

The main purpose of this full time contractual position will be to perform nursing duties with in the Behavioral Health Unit. This position will also provide support to Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners and Behavioral Health Nurses. Services provided include, but are not limited to: Medication Reconciliation, collection of blood pressure, height and weight, health promotion, administering injections, assisting prescribers with refill requests and prior authorizations, helping to manager the caseload and corresponding with prescribers (Psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners). The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

 Coordinator Special Programs Health Services I, Full-time Contractual 

The main purpose of this full time contractual position will be to provide community based case management and identify intervention needs of children/adolescents and adults on the caseload. This position will also perform assessments, provide recommendations and connect individuals with appropriate resources in order to obtain a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional and/or physical adjustment. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

Social Worker I, Health Services

Social Worker I, Health Services is a professional clinical social work at the intermediate level providing direct social work services to clients in a special population in a health setting.  The work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.  The nature of the work may require evening and weekend hours.  Work is performed in hospitals, residential facilities, clinics or local health units.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE II 

Full Time, State Benefits. Occasional weekends and evenings required. Duties include but are not limited to implementing the Cancer Control Program in the Prevention Department, coordination of services, case management, evaluation, quality assurance, monitoring and supervision. 

  Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Valid driver’s license required. Background check & drug screening required.
