Worcester County Health Department


The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

 

Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.

We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

Physician Clinical Specialist - Psychiatrist
The selected candidate for this position will be joining a dynamic team, at a Joint Commission accredited organization where he/she will be working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults, in a work environment that offers flexibility and opportunities for innovative practice in a multi-disciplinary setting. The scope of practice includes: evaluating, assessing, diagnosing & treating individuals to determine necessary psychiatric treatment, including prescribing and monitoring of medications; crisis intervention and the planning and implementing of treatment. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

 Mental Health Professional Counselor
The main purpose of this position is to provide individual, group and family therapy through the Outpatient program in order to improve the functioning of the individual served. Must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

Coordinator of Special Programs I, Health Services
This position provides the initial client engagement to individuals seeking Behavioral Health Services including intake assistance, transportation to and from services, connection, and referrals to additional services as available. This position will encompass multiple avenues of wellness including addressing housing issues, substance use recovery services, health insurance, mental health services, medical care, etcetera. This position will provide Narcan education and training to individuals and provide skilled coordination of care with providers to ensure quality of treatment. This position will seek to reduce barriers for our clientele by identifying obstacles and creating a vision for change. This position does include home visiting and will be expected to occasionally work evenings and Saturdays.
