The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.
We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

An Office Services Clerk is the full performance level of work performing diverse clerical duties which support agency operations and require the review, verification and interpretation of information in order to make determinations and resolve problems in accordance with policies, regulations and laws applicable to agency programs. The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clinical support for the HIV Case management team to include direct patient contact as well as clerical support for other assigned nursing programs.

An Environmental Health Aide III is the full performance level of work in the field of environmental health conducting environmental health surveys and investigations to determine compliance with applicable health and environmental laws and regulations. The main purpose of this position is to perform duties of an Environmental Health Aide in the area of community sanitation under the supervision of the Environmental Health Specialist Supervisor. This is a contractual position working 20 to 40 hours per week depending on need.

The main purpose of this position will be to coordinate with employees and clients of the four lower shore local health departments (Worcester, Wicomico, Somerset and Dorchester) to organize the Quality Improvement response to performance gaps that have been identified by PHPA in quality of care. This position will facilitate the identification of causes of any priority gaps and will use the Model for Improvement to assist the health department(s) in setting aims and establishing measures as well as selecting, testing, implementing, scaling-up and institutionalizing changes. The selected candidate must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

The selected candidate for this position will be joining a dynamic team at a Joint Commission accredited organization, where he/she will be working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents and adults, in a work environment that offers flexibility and opportunities for innovative practice in a multi-disciplinary setting. The scope of practice includes: evaluating, assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals to determine necessary psychiatric treatment, including the prescription and monitoring of medications; crisis intervention; and the planning and implementation of treatment.
