Atlantic General Hospital and Worcester Health Sponsor Go Red for Women 2021

Snow Hill, Maryland- Atlantic General Hospital and the Worcester County Health Department are proud to announce that they are partnering to sponsor Worcester County Go Red for Women. The campaign will focus on raising awareness among women about heart disease, risk factors, signs/symptoms, and steps you can take to reduce your risk for developing heart disease. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will be virtual and includes a week-long social media campaign dedicated to educating women about risk factors for heart disease and simple steps you can take to reduce your risk. During the week of February 1- February 5, 2021, Atlantic General Hospital’s and Worcester Health’s social media will feature educational videos promoting heart health. 

The schedule includes:

  • February 1, 2021- Techniques for coping with stress including a deep breathing video.
  • February 2, 2021- Tips for quitting tobacco use and how quitting helps to reduce your risk of a heart attack.
  • February 3, 2021- The benefits of physical activity- how to get started and stay active.
  • February 4, 2021- Diabetes and heart health- how to manage or prevent diabetes and reduce your risk for heart disease.
  • February 5, 2021- What’s Cooking in Worcester will feature an easy to make, heart healthy recipe. Friday’s posting will also include testimonials from local women sharing what heart health means to them- learn from your friends, family, and neighbors about simple changes you can make to reduce your risk for heart disease.

As part of this year’s Go Red for Women campaign, girls and women of all ages are encouraged to participate in a month-long  Worcester County Go Red for Women Walk for Wellness Challenge. During the month of February, participants are encouraged to visit a local park or trail and take a walk or participate in whatever form of activity they enjoy. Participants are asked to snap a selfie and submit the picture to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to be entered into a drawing to win a free prize. The more pictures you submit, the more chances you have to win the door prize.

The first 100 women to submit pictures of their physical activity will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. Additional opportunities for physical activity during the month of February include Go Red for Wellness Scavenger Hunts and a virtual Walk with a Doc sponsored by Atlantic General Hospital on February 20, 2021. Information about how to register for the Worcester County Go Red for Women Walk for Wellness and Go Red for Wellness Scavenger Hunts will be released in the near future.
