Adolescent Program

The HART Program provides adolescent substance abuse treatment services to clients throughout Worcester County from the ages of 11 through 18.  Services include screening, assessment, urinalysis, traditional outpatient, intensive outpatient, family counseling, individual counseling, group counseling, school based services, and referral to higher levels of care if needed.

High School Grads Play It Safe

High School Grads Play It Safe

The Play It Safe Project is a statewide prevention project for high school graduates who celebrate their graduation either in their hometown or at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland. The Project’s mission and message is to encourage responsible celebration fun – without the use of alcohol or other drugs. This message seeks to reduce specific risk factors while increasing specific protective factors. This is a project of the Ocean City Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Committee with support from the Health Department.

Youth Programs

Personal Responsibility Education Program

Comprehensive, evidence-based sexual education program intended for high school-aged youth. Assists youth with developing life skills and goals and prevents risky behaviors; AGES 12-19

Abstinence Curriculum

Geared at middle school aged youth.  Assists youth with developing life skills and goals and prevents risky behaviors

Alternative to Suspension Youth Tobacco Education

American Lung Association curriculum to educate youth on the dangers of tobacco and smokeless nicotine products.  The purpose is to prevent tobacco and nicotine use among underage youth.

Youth Council

Share information about youth-related concerns; promote internal and external assets among youth in order to prevent unhealthy behaviors which may result in harm or reduced opportunities for success; and provide information to County Commissioners, County agencies, and Youth Serving organizations specific to youth development and resources.

Alex DeSilver, a member of Just for Guys, enjoys a field trip at the Eastern Shore Lanes in Pocomoke City, Md.

 

Darius Dennis, a member of Just for Guys, enjoys an educational activity at Oakley's Farm in Hebron, Md.

Asset Building for Youth Training

Train youth and adults on integrating the 40 developmental assets identified by the Search Institute for positive youth development. For the full list of developmental assets, click here.

Worcester County High School SADD members participated in a low ropes course at Peer Leadership on Sept. 16, 2010 in Lewes, Del. Activity conducted by Prevention Program of the Worcester County Health Department in collaboration with the Worcester County Board of Education.

Stephen Decatur High School, Pocomoke High School and Snow Hill High School students attended Peer Leadership program on Sept. 16-17 at Camp Arrowhead in Lewes, Del.
